This morning, Polycom, Inc. announced a partnership with cloud enabler and integrator, Meetrix Communications, Inc., to offer a social video collaboration solution via the cloud. Polycom is currently demonstrating this new offering at the IBM Connect 2013 event in Orlando, FL.
“We are excited to team with a prestigious partner such as Polycom. We’ve heard from our customers that enterprise-class UC delivered from the cloud is needed, and our joint solution, whether the video infrastructure is on-premises or delivered from the cloud, offers the best-in-class UC and video solution-set available today,” said Lee Fawcett, Chief Executive Officer, Meetrix, in a press release today.
The new offering integrates Polycom’s RealPresence Platform with Meetrix’s flagship UC for IBM Sametime offering, “Sametime-as-a-Service.” As a result, organizations may connect employees securely across point-to-point or multi-party video calls. Users may connect to these calls from a variety of devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets and conference rooms.
“We’ve offered integration with IBM Sametime for years but as more customers – especially small and midsized companies – explore cloud strategies, we’re excited to partner with Meetrix, a real innovator in this space,” explained Steve Pattison, Vice President of Business Development, Polycom, in a press release today.
The offering is now globally available at no additional application cost for any existing Meetrix UC in the Cloud for IBM Sametime and Polycom RealPresence customers. Meetrix will be presenting a demo of this offering in early February at the TEAM Polycom 2013 event in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
