Before yesterday’s MSP business coach became an overnight MSP M&A expert, there was Revenue Rocket. Best known to me as an early prominent supporter of Redmond Channel Partner (RCP) magazine, it’s a firm that was here yesterday, today and tomorrow in our space –
getting up every day and doing the M&A thing all over again. I met them at RCP magazine launch at the 2003 Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) event in New Orleans. What else was that event famous for? The Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 product launch.

Mike Harvath is the magic behind the Revenue Rocket machine. Here is the front story on Harvath and 25 year old Revenue Rocket. “As President and CEO of Revenue Rocket Consulting Group for over 25 years, I lead a premier growth M&A advisory firm focused on technology-enabled services companies. My expertise lies in M&A deal facilitation, management consulting, and business strategy, supported by an MBA from Harvard Business School. I focus on delivering tailored growth and sales strategies, facilitating mergers and acquisitions, and fostering channel development for our clients.
Revenue Rocket has empowered numerous technology organizations to achieve sustainable growth and navigate dynamic markets. By developing impactful business strategies and supporting M&A activities, we enable clients to maximize their potential. My commitment extends to contributing to the technology services industry through publications and thought leadership.”
Here are some highlights from the podcast (but listen to the whole darn thing!)
Revenue Rocket was an editorial contributor to RCP magazine for its entire life.
It’s a full stacked, both the M&A buy side and sell side. “We started the business as buy side only, as well as strategy oriented, growth strategy, pure play.” Harvath said.
We discussed the reality that there are now so many M&A MSP ankle biters in the space. “You know, it's interesting because there's, we think there's about 260, give or take, if you want to call them PE sponsors in the space, trying to acquire MSPs right now, not to mention all the search funders and others that may come in and try to do deals. And there's been a lot of consolidation over the last three, four, five years for sure. And so you've got all these guys still running what I would say is limited inventory, right? A short list of people who are available that really want to transact.” Harvath shared.
We both discuss the M&A bubble we’re in with CNBC-speak.
Great point by Harvath on getting buttoned up and pretty to be an attractive acquisition target!
