Summer Reading Update: Gettin’ Wonky!

Geek Speak

I’m past mid-point in the book “Far from Home” by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and my lifelong friend dating back to the Alaska daze Charles “Coolie” Wohlforth. The quality of the writing and editing continue to impress me. And, again, I’m compartmentalized reading the book itself and when I finish I’ll have plenty to say about “the vote” that Lisa cast on July 3, 2025. Soon I’ll run a Lisa approval poll and post the results in my final comments after I finish the book)

So here are the fast two minutes in sports (politics just a sport?) . Let’s gooooo!

fuse coworker space and book

  • Chapter 5 was block and tackle—I for one needed more coffee to plow through it with more coffee (pictured in the lobby/kitchen area of FUSE, a co-worker space in my one horse town of Dripping Springs in the Texas Hill country area outside Austin)
  • Reading this book has confirmed I don’t wanna lead my life this way in the political realm …I’ll stick to the tech sector!
  • Chapter 6 was disturbing about Trump’s first election and I could only read a few pages at a time because I needed to engage in self-care and self-love!
  • Chapter 7 - the “Me Too” focus allowed me to revisit and rethink that dialog. Sen Lisa discloses her own “Me Too” incident.
  • Chapter 8 - I took away the dynamics of the first Trump impeachment. Lisa’s sole swing vote NOT to call witnesses like Bolton stalled the effort. I’m seeing a pattern here with Lisa…hmmmm…
