Geeks: We are COMMUNITY!

Geek Speak

The SMB MSP community was built on exactly that: community. Over the epoch from SBS and beyond, we’ve always come together in different ways depending on the need. Here are a few past and present examples.

 MSP Navy

We rallied the geeks to assist with Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey. In NOLA with Katrina it was legendary SBS MVP Jeff Middleton leading the way in his hometown. So inspired we were that a few SBSers went to New Orleans to assist.

With Harvey in Houston, locals Tim Loney and the late Ken Dwight assisted a handful of SMB customers get square with the technology stack they depend on.

Different Forms

But community takes many different forms. Sometimes we serve in silence and other times not. Here are two recent examples that underscore we’re all in it together.

Texas Floods of July 2025.

This was a case of many geeks serving in silence and doing the right thing. I know they are out there helping and for my part, I donated some unused tools at a drop off site to go to Kerrville, TX. Oh and I tossed in a heap of IT vendor t-shirts and socks. I always get the tech conference.

Wiser Community Gathering

Chris Wiser, known for his MSP marketing solutions, hosted his annual July 4th party at his house in Driftwood (southwest of Austin) and over 200 attendees enjoyed five bands. Hey the community needs to recharge with fun stuff to get our go juice!

Joshua Liberman and ExchangeSecurity2025 in Frisco, TX

And most recently, Joshua Liberman reports the the pre-day evening to this respected conference was highlighted by a volunteer effort to pack meals for the hungry. He reports the effort was a success with 10,000 packages created with the geek volunteers!

So to the SMB MSP community, keep on keeping on folks!
