Small business IT and technology news for the SMB channel VAR, MSP, and IT professional.
I’ve just received notification that the Cloud has a date this Saturday night and will be down. I’ve searched People magazine’s site to try to find out just who is the cloud dating. A Hollywood star? A political figure? Who knows!
But the impact isn’t lost on me. The notion that Saleforce can go down for an hour on Saturday night is disturbing to me. We use Salesforce at SMB Nation and have a distributed work force. Salespeople such as the infamous Chris and Jeremiah are truly 24X7. Shouldn’t Salesforce be the same?
The Saturday night date that Salesforce is going out on surfaces questions above and beyond the general concerns about dating safety and mutual attraction. Does the downtime “count” towards the SLA agreements and the five nines trumpted by major cloud service providers? What about APAC where it’ll be well into the Sunday workday when this occurs. Yes – people work on Sundays in Asia!
So is there something disturbing about this notification? Lemme know what you think!
