It’s no secret that the U.S. economy (and in turn) U.S. small businesses have been hit hard over the past few years. Despite a lot of discussions from the government, corporations and the media, it is not getting easier to grow a small business, and our economy has a long way to go before we fully recover. As efforts continue to stimulate the economy with huge corporate bailouts and the ongoing frenzy to find and fund the next big start up, the true backbone of our economy- small businesses- continue to fight every day to keep their businesses alive and, as a result, our economy going--and they don’t get a lot of appreciation or support.
In the hopes of trying to alleviate and change this current predicament for the SMB community, Silver Lining Ltd., in partnership with American Airlines Business Suites, Citrix Online Services, Nespresso, PostNet, OnDeck Capital, ReTargeter, NoonDalton, Envelopes.com, Small Business Expo and Privy have partnered to create this Thank You Small Business Campaign in support of small business.
The goals of this SMB campaign are to increase the general public’s awareness that we can change the economy, one small business at a time and to thank and support no less than 25,000 small businesses in the United States. The campaign includes 10 free live events for small business owners to attend, over 20 free webinars for small business to participate in, a campaign to mail 25,000 thank you cards to real small business owners and to give thousands of business owners free resources and support in the official Thank You Small Business Resource Portal. Throughout the campaign, surveys and interviews will be held and the results will be released in a book, Thank You Small Business, in May 2013.
In the spirit of supporting and recognizing small business- all 10 of the live events are being hosted in spaces owned and operated by small business owners. The launch event will be held this evening from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm at The Strand Bookstore, located at 828 Broadway, New York City.
The following nine live “Thank You” events for small businesses will be held between Jan. 29 and March 6: in Detroit; Portland, ME; Atlanta; Denver; Tucson; Las Vegas; Oakland/San Francisco; Philadelphia; and Dallas. The Thank You Small Business Webinar Series will run throughout March and April.
