Yesterday I had the opportunity to interview John Zanni, general manager of Worldwide Hosting, Microsoft Communications Sector and Monish Sood, marketing manager, Hosting, Microsoft Communications Sector. I was especially interested in hearing how Microsoft is working in the Telecom area and with voice service providers now that Response Point has been end of lifed (August 31, 2010). This interview occurred at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in Washington DC.

John shared with me that Microsoft will deliver its applications, including voice-enabled functionality, via it Telco partners and hosting partners. For example, the new Office Communication Server (OCS) 14 is now multi-tenant so that a hosting partner could sell UC services to a wide range of business customers, including small businesses.
“We did a study that shows more than 65 percent of small businesses are moving one or more applications to the cloud.” Zanni told me.
